Cost of Living

In case you are moving up here from the South, it is very expensive!!!

As a rule of thumb, the property taxes in Mill Creek are 3-4X worse then what they are in many southern states. Here is my example:

TN – $100/month for every $100,000 value of your house.

Mill Creek – $310/month for every $100,000 value of your house.

In other words:

For a $300,000 house you will pay -

$300/month in Property Taxes in TN

$930/month in Property Taxes in Mill Creek

Just keep this in mind when you are looking for a house in Mill Creek Subdivision, Geneva, IL. In fact this is fairly true with most of Kane and Dupage counties in Chicagoland.

Golf Courses within Mill Creek

Well I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Mill Creek Golf Course located within our subdivision is excellent. I have only been able to play the Mill Creek Course therefore will need to hold out on Tanna Farms review for later.

The clubhouse needs to some work, but that is only to reflect the incredible golf course it is providing services too.

I really enjoyed playing this course, and this statement originates from someone that came from south. It has beautiful landscaping, pretty well designed holes, and excellent hills to adjust skill level. I recommend that you play this course at least once.

The Mill Creek site needs some work, esp in comparison to the Tanna Farms.

High Speed Internet Service Providers

So the first entry is to be about my frustration with the low selection of Internet Service Providers. There are two options: Mediacom and AT&T

I have found that most (80% or greater) of everyone in the Mill Creek Subdivision has AT&T DSL for their provider. Two reasons for this:

1. Mediacom does not provide good cable TV service. Many have selected to use DirecTV Satellite Service instead. Need proof? Ride around in the neighborhood and count the number of Satellite dishes.

2. Mediacom does not provide good service at all. (based upon my experience and various neighbor’s experience as well.) We have tried to use them for over 3 weeks and they could not get the lines to my house to work because they informed me they are not used to supplying service to this area.

So your “only” selection would be to use AT&T DSL, which is very slow! They max out at 6MB/s down and my previous experience is with Comcast which maxed out at 10MB/s download speed. Yes that seems close together but Comcast max speed was steady, and AT&T seems to be in burst. (Which based upon how the technology is built is very backwards.)

So my recommendation, from experience, is to get the DirecTV/AT&T DSL bundle.
